Aesthetic medicine consultation

An aesthetic medicine consultation is an individual appointment with Dr Piotr Rak, during which the doctor takes a medical history, assesses the condition of the skin and face, and develops a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s needs and expectations. It is a starting point, not automatic eligibility for treatment. The doctor may recommend a different scope or pace of treatment than the patient initially planned.

What is an aesthetic medicine consultation?

An aesthetic medicine consultation is an appointment with a doctor during which the patient’s individual needs are discussed, an aesthetic assessment of the face and skin is performed, and a treatment plan is developed. The appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes and helps determine which procedures may be considered, in what order and to what extent, taking into account the patient’s health, expectations and any contraindications.

A consultation does not automatically mean eligibility for a procedure. The doctor may recommend a different approach than the patient originally planned, postpone the procedure or refer the patient for additional tests.

What happens during the consultation?

1. Medical history

Dr Piotr Rak discusses the patient’s expectations and needs, reviews the medical history, including medicines, previous procedures, chronic conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and assesses possible contraindications to individual procedures.

2. Assessment of the skin and face

The doctor assesses skin quality and firmness, dynamic and static wrinkles, volume loss, tissue descent, contours and facial symmetry. The assessment takes into account age, facial structure and individual anatomy.

3. Development of a treatment plan

Based on the medical history and assessment, the doctor proposes methods that may be considered, explaining how they work, their possible effects, risks and limitations. The plan may include one procedure or several stages spread over time.

4. Discussion of contraindications and limitations

The doctor explains the potential risks and adverse effects of the selected procedures and may order additional tests before determining eligibility.

Which procedures can be planned during the consultation?

The consultation may include discussion and planning of procedures such as:

The complete range of procedures is available on the aesthetic medicine page.

What should you know before the appointment?

  • It is best to attend the consultation without make-up or with minimal make-up, as this makes skin assessment easier.
  • Tell the doctor about all medicines you take, including blood-thinning medicines such as aspirin or ibuprofen, supplements and contraceptive preparations.
  • If you take medicines that affect blood clotting or have a chronic condition, mention this before booking the appointment.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications to most aesthetic procedures.
  • An active skin infection, such as acne or herpes, or inflammation in the planned treatment area may require postponement.
  • During the appointment, the doctor may recommend a different or narrower treatment plan than originally expected, based on the individual clinical assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Does a consultation mean that I will immediately qualify for a procedure?

No. The consultation is a starting point. The doctor may recommend a different scope, staged treatment or additional tests. In some cases, the doctor may decide that the planned procedure is not indicated or should be postponed. The decision is made solely by the doctor based on the medical history and clinical assessment.

How long does an aesthetic medicine consultation take?

The appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes. It may take longer if the patient wants to discuss several treatment areas or if the doctor needs to take a more detailed medical history.

Do I need to prepare for the appointment?

It is best to attend without make-up or with minimal make-up, as this makes skin assessment easier. Prepare a list of medicines and supplements you take. Tell the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, chronic conditions and allergies.

What are the contraindications to aesthetic medicine procedures?

General contraindications include pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infection in the treatment area, autoimmune disease during an active flare, a tendency to form keloids and the use of certain medicines. Each procedure has its own contraindications, which the doctor discusses individually during the consultation.

How much does an aesthetic medicine consultation cost?

The current consultation and treatment price list is available on the aesthetic medicine page or by calling 600 006 913.

Can a procedure be performed on the day of the consultation?

Some procedures can be performed on the same day after the consultation if the doctor confirms eligibility and there are no contraindications. This may include botulinum toxin treatment for straightforward indications. Procedures requiring more detailed assessment or additional tests are scheduled separately. It is worth asking about same-day treatment when booking.
