Mesobotox (Baby Botox)
Mesobotox (Baby Botox) is a technique involving the administration of highly diluted botulinum toxin in microdoses, intradermally or just beneath the skin. Its purpose is to improve skin texture, reduce enlarged pores and fine lines, and create a “fresh skin” effect while preserving natural facial expressions. What does Mesobotox involve and how does it differ from conventional Botox?
In conventional aesthetic applications, botulinum toxin type A is injected into the deeper muscle layers, where it relaxes facial muscles and reduces dynamic wrinkles. In the Mesobotox technique, the same substance is administered at a significantly lower concentration, intradermally and at multiple microinjection points. The preparation does not deeply block the muscles. It primarily acts at the level of the dermis, affecting the sebaceous glands, superficial muscle tone and fine lines.
The result is an improvement in skin texture and smoothing of fine wrinkles, with less impact on muscle movement than with a conventional Botox procedure. Facial expressions remain more natural, although the extent of the results varies and depends on the dose and treatment area.
Botulinum toxin is a biologically active substance administered by a doctor following an individual eligibility assessment. The most common adverse effects after Mesobotox include redness, minor swelling or bruising at the injection sites. These usually subside within a few days. Less commonly, facial asymmetry, temporary eyelid drooping known as ptosis, headache or a sensation of heaviness in the forehead may occur. Who is Mesobotox suitable for?
The procedure may be considered by people who:
- want to reduce fine wrinkles and improve the texture of the skin on the face, neck or décolletage,
- prefer a subtle and natural-looking aesthetic result,
- are looking for a complement to conventional botulinum toxin treatments,
- are in good general health and have no contraindications to botulinum toxin.
The procedure does not eliminate deep static wrinkles and does not replace conventional Botox for pronounced dynamic wrinkles. The doctor assesses the indications and selects the appropriate method during the consultation.
Contraindications
- pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- confirmed allergy to botulinum toxin or any component of the preparation,
- active skin infection in the planned treatment area,
- neuromuscular diseases, including myasthenia gravis, Lambert–Eaton syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and others,
- blood clotting disorders or the use of potent anticoagulant medication that cannot be discontinued,
- use of aminoglycoside antibiotics, which may intensify the effects of botulinum toxin.

How is the procedure performed?
The doctor takes a medical history, assesses the condition of the skin and muscles, discusses expectations and explains the risks and mechanism of action of the preparation. The doctor selects the appropriate concentration and treatment area.
The botulinum toxin is diluted to the appropriate concentration. The skin is cleansed and, when indicated, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied.
The doctor administers the preparation intradermally through a grid of microinjection points in the planned treatment area. The procedure usually takes approximately 30–45 minutes.

Results and duration
The first improvements in skin texture may become visible after several days. The full result usually develops within 1–2 weeks after the procedure. Results generally last approximately 3–4 months, depending on the patient’s metabolism, treatment area and dose. The procedure may be repeated regularly. The duration and intensity of the results vary between patients.
Recovery
Most patients can return to their usual activities on the same day or the following day. During the first few days, mild redness, minor swelling or bruising may occur at the injection sites. These usually resolve without treatment. Post-treatment recommendations include:
- avoid intensive physical activity for 24–48 hours,
- avoid saunas, hot baths and exposure to high temperatures for several days,
- avoid facial massage and strong pressure on the face for several days,
- contact the clinic if symptoms become more severe after several days or if new symptoms appear.
