What does the O-Shot procedure involve?
O-Shot, or Orgasm Shot, is an aesthetic gynaecology procedure involving the injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the area around the clitoris and the anterior vaginal wall. PRP contains a concentrate of growth factors obtained from the patient’s own blood. After centrifugation and preparation, the material is injected directly into the tissues under local anaesthesia.
The growth factors contained in PRP may stimulate tissue regeneration and blood supply. It is assumed that the procedure may increase sensitivity and improve hydration. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient returns home on the same day.
The O-Shot procedure is based on the injection of platelet-rich plasma into the intimate area. Clinical evidence concerning the effectiveness of PRP in improving female sexual function is limited. The available data are based mainly on observational studies and patient reports. Reports of an effect on stress urinary incontinence require further clinical research. Individual outcomes may vary considerably. Qualification and discussion of realistic expectations take place during a medical consultation.
Who may consider O-Shot?
The procedure may be considered by women who:
- experience reduced sensitivity or hydration in the intimate area,
- are looking for a non-surgical method of intimate tissue revitalisation,
- experience discomfort during sexual intercourse,
- have mild stress urinary incontinence and wish to discuss possible treatment options after other causes have been excluded,
- are in good health and have realistic expectations regarding the extent of the results.
The procedure does not replace gynaecological diagnosis or treatment of sexual dysfunction caused by hormonal, psychological or neurological factors. The doctor assesses individually whether O-Shot is an appropriate option.
Contraindications to O-Shot
- active infection or inflammatory lesions in the treatment area,
- pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- autoimmune diseases or cancer,
- blood-clotting disorders or the use of potent anticoagulant medication,
- blood disorders or a significantly reduced platelet count (thrombocytopenia).

How is the O-Shot procedure performed?
The doctor takes a medical history, discusses expectations, explains the risks and limitations of the procedure, and assesses the indications and possible contraindications.
A small amount of blood is collected from a vein in the patient’s arm. The sample is centrifuged to isolate plasma rich in growth factors (PRP).
Before the PRP is administered, local anaesthesia is applied to the treatment area to reduce discomfort.
The doctor injects the prepared plasma into the area around the clitoris and the anterior vaginal wall. The entire procedure usually takes approximately 45–60 minutes.
The doctor discusses post-procedure care, including the recommended period of sexual abstinence. The patient returns home on the same day.

What risks are associated with the O-Shot procedure?
Possible adverse effects include temporary discomfort, swelling or redness at the injection site, which usually resolve within several days. Less commonly, bruising, infection requiring medical contact or a local injection-site reaction may occur. Because PRP is obtained from the patient’s own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction is low but not zero. The doctor discusses the full risk profile before the procedure.
Is O-Shot painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. Some patients experience mild discomfort during the injections, but the intensity varies between individuals. Blood collection is similar to a standard laboratory blood test.
How long do the effects of O-Shot last?
Approximately 6–18 months, depending on the individual’s metabolism and predispositions. Subjective sensations may vary considerably between patients. Once the effects have diminished, the procedure may be repeated following a joint decision by the patient and the doctor.
When can sexual activity be resumed?
Sexual activity should be avoided for 7–10 days after the procedure. The doctor determines the exact recommendations and period of abstinence individually after the procedure.
Can O-Shot help with urinary incontinence?
Some observational studies suggest a possible improvement in mild stress urinary incontinence symptoms after O-Shot.
