Poly-L-lactic acid, abbreviated as PLLA, is a biocompatible and biodegradable biostimulator used in aesthetic medicine. Unlike conventional fillers such as hyaluronic acid, PLLA does not increase tissue volume directly by adding an external filling substance.
Its mechanism of action is based on biostimulation. The preparation is administered intradermally and subcutaneously, where it is gradually absorbed and stimulates fibroblasts to produce the body’s own collagen. The result is gradual and natural thickening of the tissue without the sensation of a foreign body.
Because collagen production is a gradual process, the first results become visible after several weeks, while the full result is assessed approximately two to three months after the procedure.
