Mole Removal

We remove skin lesions using several methods – surgical excision with histopathological examination, CO2 laser treatment or cryotherapy. The method is always selected by the doctor after assessing the lesion. Below, we briefly explain which pathway may be appropriate for you and guide you to more detailed information.

Important for your safety: moles and suspicious lesions should not be removed with laser treatment or cryotherapy, because these methods vaporise/destroy the tissue and do not leave material for examination. Such lesions should be removed surgically, with histopathological examination, in order to reliably rule out cancer.

Which method should you choose?

  • A mole, birthmark or lesion that is changing / appears suspicious → surgical excision with histopathological examination.
  • A benign aesthetic lesion (e.g. small skin lesions, fibromas, warts) → CO2 laser treatment or cryotherapy.
  • You are not sure what type of lesion it is → start with dermoscopy or a surgical consultation – the doctor will assess it and choose the appropriate method.

Methods and treatment pathways – choose an option

Most common question

Laser treatment, cryotherapy or excision – which should you choose? The method depends on the nature of the lesion, not on preference. Pigmented lesions, moles and anything that raises concern should be removed surgically with histopathological examination. Benign aesthetic lesions can be removed with a CO2 laser or cryotherapy. The simplest approach is to start with a consultation – the doctor will assess the lesion and recommend the right pathway.
